Wk 4 Exam

Today after work I crated Jett for his hour with the intentions of going to Home Depot to do his exam. Well we had to make a quick stop to the accountant before going to HD. The accountant is right by the pet store. So in all my genius I thought “I’ll just go do the test here”. I have not taken him in the pet store to train yet so it was a whole new world for him. Well the video will speak for itself.  It was definitely high distraction off the chart for Jett. Monsters and everything. Although it is not perfect I was so proud of the little guy. He was trying so hard to do what he needed to do but sometimes the distractions around him were just too much. After the test I stayed and worked him against the bunny that was his “Monster” Anyway, if I need to redo this exam in not so high of distraction I totally understand.

  1. Week 4 exam is posted. I may need to redo this one. I know it is called “Hell week” but I don’t know why I thought it would be a good idea to do the test in this environment. 🤪

  2. I think this was a phone location to do FC EXAM! The many unusual sounds created sensory overloads for Jett. What I love about THIS Week 4 EXAM is how real it is. This is a splendid example of a young dog absolutely trusting its owner in the midst of a stressful and unknown situation,

Loved the creative use of the space and the multiple, coun'm 1, 2, 3 ,4 "Approach by Strangers."

Kat and Jessi will formally review and provide feedback, but WOW, what a great job, Trina and Jett!!

    1. Even though it was very stressful for both Jett and myself, and I know he can do much better in a lower distraction environment it gives me a good indicator of where we truly are. I don't know why I haven't thought about training in the pet store with Jett before now, but I definitely will use it more due to the extreme high distraction. Thanks for the feedback.

  3. Trina, that was so good! Quite the challenge for little Jett in that pet store but he rose to the occasion. Wow! He was so solid on the approach by several strangers. Great job!

  4. Trina, that was amazing! When Jett does *that* well in such a high stress environment, we know he has the mechanics, training, exercises down pat! I was very entertained by how terrified he was of the white rabbit-- "Run away! Run away!" 😊

Great taking small steps and all of your turn mechanics looked really sharp! He did such a good job checking in with you and gaining confidence and security from your confidence and demeanor. The figure 8's looked so good! He recalled so well! Everything about that video was 🤩

For this week, I'm going to split hairs and say I had a difficult time following your halt mechanics a couple times. (Something I also struggle with, as we all know 😬) Aside from that, WOW! You are such a good example to me of calm, consistent training and finding great places to work Jett!
